The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mamedov throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Couture tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Mamedov is in Couture's guard.
Couture manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mamedov manages to get himself to full guard.
Mamedov utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Mamedov is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Couture escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mamedov gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Couture is striking off his back. Mamedov thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Oh but Couture is tightening it up a little... Mamedov has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Mamedov reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Mamedov taps out! nice BJJ there by Couture!
