PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dom Trills (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aaron Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Aaron Anderson!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Russell Pearce and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anderson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Trills shoots in for a takedown but Anderson shows good takedown defense.
Trills throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Anderson misses with a takedown attempt

and Trills counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Anderson is pressing down on Trills's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Anderson looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Trills looking to sit in guard and control but Anderson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Trills controls Anderson momentarily but Anderson frees himself.

Anderson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Trills has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Anderson has managed to get both his arms back between Trills's legs - danger averted.

That was a close round but I would say that Dom Trills will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Anderson gets caught flat footed, as Trills shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Trills drops back, looking for a kneebar! Anderson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Anderson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Anderson!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Anderson looks up at the clock and then as Trills takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Anderson smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Anderson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Trills is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Trills shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Anderson but Anderson pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Trills closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Trills cracks Anderson with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Trills lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Trills has hold of Anderson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Anderson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Trills swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Anderson is now in Trills's guard. A big mistake from Trills there, giving up the dominant position!

Anderson postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Trills is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Anderson, into his guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Anderson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Trills controls the pace.
Anderson wants to stand but Trills is controlling the position.
Anderson keeping moving, preventing Trills from controlling successfully.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Anderson looking for subs off his back but Trills has passed one foot through into half guard.
Still in half guard, Trills seems content to control.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Trills, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
