Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Johan Elia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Marco Marshall!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Paul Aken and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Elia fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Marshall ducks under a wild hook from Elia.
Marshall bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Marshall darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Elia is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Marshall pulls his head out easily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Marshall moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Elia stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Marshall swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Marshall is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Elia has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Elia has gone for a leg lock! Marshall slips out almost immediately though and dives into Elia's guard.
Marshall passes Elia's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Marshall is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Elia knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Marshall on the ground.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

and Elia counters with a left to the body.

and Elia cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

and Marshall counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Elia's guard now.

Elia is looking for a triangle but Marshall pushes his legs off easily.

Elia has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Marshall can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Elia is staying active underneath Marshall, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Marshall looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Marshall looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Elia with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Elia slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Elia is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Marshall is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Elia is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Marshall is aware though and is defending well.
Marshall sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Elia's guard.
Marshall passes to side control.
Marshall works to advance to full mount. Elia defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Marshall prevents Elia from getting the reversal.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Marshall is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Elia can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Elia is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Marshall locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Elia is forced to tap!
