Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Irwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cannon Fodder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Irwin comes to the cage accompanied by Bodies. Paul Irwin has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Paul Irwin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cannon Fodder!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Skip Squint and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fodder forces Irwin back against the cage and clinches.
Irwin looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Fodder tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Fodder has Irwin pressed against the cage, preventing Irwin from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Irwin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Fodder swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Irwin looks to land a right hand but Fodder moved out of range.
Fodder throws a solid leg kick but Irwin takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Fodder.
Irwin lands a nice shot that snaps Fodder's head back.
A bone on bone clash there as Fodder blocks the leg kick.
Fodder tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Irwin is able to avoid easily.

Irwin darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Fodder shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Irwin sprawls well. Irwin wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Fodder gets slowly back to his feet.
Irwin lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
A clash of legs there as Irwin blocks the low kick.

Irwin gets caught flat footed, as Fodder shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Fodder postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Irwin is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Fodder, into his guard.

Fodder had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Irwin defends it easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Fodder is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Fodder looking to control.
Fodder bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Irwin's guard.

Fodder postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Irwin is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Fodder, into his guard.
Fodder manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Irwin manages to get himself to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Fodder is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Irwin is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Irwin has escaped and now he's on top!

Fodder is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Irwin jumps into side control!
Fodder tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fodder is trying to control Irwin's posture but Irwin avoids it.
Fodder is looking to regain half guard here but Irwin keeps moving and retains side control.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Irwin decides to stand back up.
Fodder motions for Irwin to come forward. Fodder throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paul Irwin dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Fodder misses with a low kick.
Fodder has a takedown stuffed.
Irwin jabs Fodder to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Nice body punch from Irwin.
Fodder tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Irwin paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Fodder on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Irwin stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Irwin wants it to stay on the feet.
Irwin throws a nice inside leg kick.
Irwin throws a good cross that connects.
Irwin bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Fodder's head backwards.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Fodder fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Paul Irwin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cannon Fodder.
Irwin throws a good cross that connects.


It looks like Cannon Fodder has been cut.
Irwin throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Fodder stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Fodder is breathing heavily.
Fodder takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Irwin dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Fodder chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Irwin can pounce on him.
That kick from Irwin tenderised Fodder's leg. Fodder is trying to keep his angry face on.
Irwin thows a body kick. Fodder tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Irwin lands a head kick!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Irwin fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Fodder on the side of the head.


Fodder is rocked!
Paul Irwin is winning the standup battle so far.
Irwin scores with a body shot.
Irwin lands a nice hook to Fodder's body. Fodder takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Good leg kick by Irwin there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Irwin is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Fodder can do to turn this around?
Irwin connects with a leg kick. Fodder looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Irwin misses with a body kick.
Irwin lands the left hand.
Irwin scores with a decent looking hook.
Cannon Fodder seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fodder takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Irwin swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Fodder.
Fodder is still on wobbly legs! Can Irwin finish him?
Irwin dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Fodder. That did some damage!
Fodder seems to have recovered his senses.
Irwin looks for the body kick but Fodder saw that one coming.
Fodder throws out a leg kick but Irwin moves out of range and Fodder only half commits.
Fodder looks for a takedown but Irwin sprawls well.
Irwin lands a nice leg kick that just misses Fodder's sensitive parts.
Irwin scores with a hook to the body. Fodder takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Irwin bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Fodder's head backwards.
Fodder walks into a straight right hand from Irwin.
Irwin connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Irwin lands a jab to Fodder's midsection.
Irwin is looking to slow Fodder down with leg kicks.
Irwin jabs Fodder to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Irwin feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Fodders jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

and Fodder takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Nice straight punches there by Irwin. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Irwin.

Fodder drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Irwin fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Fodder on the side of the head.
The fighters circle momentarily. Irwin darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Paul Irwin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Fodder misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Fodder takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Irwin throws a nice outside leg kick.
Irwin uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Irwin looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Irwin lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Fodder with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Irwin to score with a decent uppercut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Jab, jab by Irwin - just one landing.
Fodder's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Irwin with a nice cross.
Irwin moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.


That has opened up Cannon Fodder's cut even more.

A nice leg kick lands there from Irwin.
Fodder stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Irwin.
Fodder takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Fodder takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Irwin connects with a good right hand that stumbles Fodder. Fodder circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Fodder has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.
Irwin lands a jab.
Irwin lands a jab to the head.
Irwin cracks Fodder on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Fodder falls backwards against the cage. Irwin follows up with more strikes that drop Fodder to his knees. Irwin keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Fodder! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Paul Irwin!
