PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between BJ Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anne Frank (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Evans kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Pride FC. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, BJ Evans!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Anne Frank!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Wesley Smith and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Frank gets a clinch.
Frank jumps guard but Evans stands there with Frank around his waist. Frank gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Evans has had enough of the clinch but Frank keeps him there for the moment.
Evans trying to control the position but instead, Frank has worked for underhooks and has pushed Evans into the cage.

Evans successfully pulls guard.
Frank trying to control but Evans is working from the bottom.
Evans wants to stand and escape but Frank is having none of it.
Evans lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Frank!
Frank is trying desperately to improve position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Frank wants to hold on but Evans pushes him away.

Evans is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Frank has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Evans really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Frank is desperately trying to improve his position but Evans has a good base and remains in mount.

Evans is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Frank defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Frank really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Evans. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Evans get's back to his feet.
Frank dives in and grabs Evans's left leg, looking for a takedown. Evans pushes down on Frank's head and hops out.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Frank is defended easily by Evans.
BJ Evans has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anne Frank.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Evans.
Evans throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Frank's waist but Frank gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Evans off to one side.

and Evans counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Evans.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Evans has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Frank is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Evans changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Frank fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Nice takedown defense from Frank. No joy for Evans on that attempt.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Evans is keen to just control but Frank is a slippery customer.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Evans is really struggling to control Frank but he's trying to hold on to the position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Evans will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Evans, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
