The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie fails with an attempt to clinch.
Gracie looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Malakas fails with a takedown attempt.
Gracie throws a head kick that misses.
Si Malakas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A good leg kick by Gracie.

Malakas shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Malakas showed some decent athleticism there.
Malakas frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Malakas working for a submission but Gracie is keeping him at bay.

Malakas is working for a guillotine from mount but Gracie frees his head quite easily.

Malakas is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Gracie to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Gracie shrugs it off.

Malakas jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Gracie is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Gracie and Malakas has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Malakas wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gracie, who protects the arm well.

Malakas goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Gracie rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Malakas's guard! Nice work there by Gracie!

Malakas working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gracie doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gracie manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Gracie really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Malakas is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Gracie is aware though and is defending well.
Malakas keeping moving, preventing Gracie from controlling successfully.

Malakas is looking for a triangle but Gracie pushes his legs off easily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gracie works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Gracie is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Malakas manages to get to full guard.
Gracie working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Malakas has his feet on Gracie's thighs here. He's pushed Gracie off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Gracie screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
