Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Han Denderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tauri Parik!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Parik takes a jab right on the kisser.
Han Denderson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Denderson tries to clinch but Parik is having none of it.
Denderson tries to clinch there but Parik circles away.
Denderson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Parik paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Parik closes this distance looking for a takedown but Denderson circles away.
Parik uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Denderson.
Parik shoots in but no luck this time.
Denderson jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Parik takes one to the side of the head.
Denderson fails to land with a series of punches.
Denderson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Parik moves away.

Parik is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Denderson's half guard.
Parik works his way into side control.

Parik is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Denderson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Parik tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Denderson wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Denderson is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Parik off and has taken his back!
Parik rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Denderson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Parik defends it well.
Parik is looking for a sweep. Denderson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Denderson has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Parik is trying desperately to improve position.
Parik looks gassed!

Denderson working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Parik tries to reverse the position but Denderson maintains control.

Denderson with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Parik tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Denderson stands up from mount. Strange move.

Denderson lands a left and a right that send Parik crashing to the mat, dazed. Denderson thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Parik is rocked!


It looks like Tauri Parik has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Denderson tries to clinch up but Parik circles away and keeps his distance.
Parik is still on wobbly legs! Can Denderson finish him?

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Denderson throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Parik's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Denderson dives in looking to finish as Parik flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Denderson's strikes! Denderson is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Parik's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Parik was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:09 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Han Denderson!
