The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Egov shoots in for a takedown but Brand shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Brand looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Egov looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Egov working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Egov accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Brand avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Egov with a flurry of punches that miss.
Brand really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Egov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Brand lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Egov!
Egov can't escape the position.
Brand lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Brand with shots to the head and body - Egov looks very uncomfortable down there.
Egov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Brand blocks Egov's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Egov wants to get back to his feet.
Brand avoids the attempt from Egov to control.
Egov is in all sorts of trouble here.

It looks like Sasha Egov has been cut.
Brand in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Egov swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Egov is looking to improve his position but Brand isn't that keen on the idea.
Brand is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Egov can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Sasha Egov's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Egov takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Brand goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Egov turns into him and now he's in Brand's guard.

Egov is fighting to break Brand's control of his arms but Brand is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Egov wants to control from the top but Brand keeps moving.
Egov postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Egov is fighting to break Brand's control of his arms but Brand is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sasha Egov has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Egov shoots for a takedown but Brand saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Egov has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Brand avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sasha Egov. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Brand breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Egov shoots for a double leg takedown but Brand sprawls well. He's pushed Egov's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Egov is breathing heavily.
Brand throws the kick towards the body but Egov avoids it.

Egov drives through and clinches with Brand against the cage.
Brand lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Jeez, Sasha Egov's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
