PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Karl (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yuri Rook (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Karl comes to the ring accompanied by Dawn of Demise - Juggernaut. Rook is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Mr Krinkle. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Karl as Rook shoots in.
Rook throws a good cross that connects.


It looks like John Karl has been cut.
Rook throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Karl misses with a straight right.
Karl lands with a cross.


It looks like Yuri Rook has been cut.
Rook changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Rook ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Karl moves away.
Rook shoots in looking for a takedown. Karl tries to sprawl out of it but Rook keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Karl manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Karl lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Karl fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Rook manages to avoid it.
Karl lands a nice looking kick to the body. Rook takes a step back to recover.
Rook looks gassed!
Nice straight punches there by Karl. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Karl.
Karl throws a right and a left that Rook avoids nicely.
Rook swings away with a body shot that misses
and Karl counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Karl throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Karl feints and then cracks Rook's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Rook down.

Karl fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Rook.
Rook ducks under a wild hook from Karl.
Karl wants to clinch up but Rook keeps it at a distance.
That kick from Karl tenderised Rook's leg. Rook is trying to keep his angry face on.
Karl throws a leg kick which misses Rook's front leg but catches the back leg as Rook tries to avoid it.
Karl scores with a jab to the body.
Karl fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Rook takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Rook's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

Karl throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Rook swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
A nice leg kick lands there from Karl.
Karl thumps Rook with a low kick.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Karl scores with the left hand. Rook knows he should have avoided that one.
Karl connects with an inside leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Karl dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

That kick from Karl tenderised Rook's leg. Rook is trying to keep his angry face on.
Karl throws a sloppy head kick and Rook moves out of range easily.
Karl is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rook can do to turn this around?
Rook chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Karl can pounce on him.

Rook is breathing heavily.
Karl dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Rook. That did some damage!

Karl throws out a loose jab but Rook uses good head movement to avoid it.

Karl lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Rook on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Karl. Karl obviously looking to wear him down.
Rook tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Karl throws a shot to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Rook takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Karl lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.


That has opened up Yuri Rook's cut even more.

Karl connects with a leg kick. Rook looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Karl lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Karl throws a lazy right hand but Rook sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Karl pushes Rook away with a front kick.
Karl throws a hook but Rook blocks it.
John Karl is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Karl throws a jab but it's blocked by Rook.
Rook is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Karl rather than just go for the knockout.

Rook takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Karl connects with a leg kick. Rook looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

John Karl seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Karl lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Rook backs up against the ropes.


The cut above Yuri Rook's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Karl moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with eachother but Rook might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Karl has got the better of the exchanges.
Karl scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Rook looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Karl is fending him off so far but Rook persists. Nope, Karl circles away and we're back to standing.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Yuri Rook's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Karl missing with a left hand there. Rook was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Karl is really turning it up, unleashing another crisp combination which drops Rook like a ton of bricks! The referee dives in to stop the fight, saving Rook from another fist facial!
