Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Grizzly Egan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mattias Markstrom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mattias Markstrom has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Grizzly Egan's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Egan. No joy for Markstrom on that attempt.
Grizzly Egan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Markstrom tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Egan swivels and escapes.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Egan drops back, looking for a kneebar! Markstrom looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Markstrom looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Markstrom!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Egan is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Markstrom off and has taken his back!
Egan misses with an elbow to the head.
Egan is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Egan gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Egan gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Egan apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Grizzly Egan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mattias Markstrom.
Markstrom is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Egan tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Egan has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Markstrom is not content to let Egan control the position.
Egan cracks Markstrom with a big elbow.

Markstrom takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Egan stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Markstrom takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Egan lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
The crowd cheers as Egan lands an impressive looking overhand right. Markstrom doesn't seem phased though.
Egan jabs Markstrom right on the nose. Markstrom blinks but takes it well.

Egan shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Markstrom's guard.

Markstrom is looking to stand up but Egan isn't so interested in that idea.

Egan throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Egan has hold of Markstrom's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Markstrom tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Egan cranks the arm and Markstrom screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Markstrom, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
