PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Timo Silakka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Nweave (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Timo Silakka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bob Nweave!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Arvi Lind and Marco Blurström.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silakka misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Silakka ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Nweave moves away.
Silakka looks to land a left hand but Nweave moved out of range nicely.
Silakka throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Nweave slips a jab and a cross from Silakka.
Silakka lunges at Nweave with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Nweave's hand.

Nweave closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Silakka did well to prevent Nweave getting side control.
Silakka trying to hold on to Nweave's head to control him but Nweave postures up.
Silakka wants to get back to full guard.
Nweave wants to control but Silakka is keeping him busy.

Silakka is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Nweave pulls his head out easily.
Nweave is pressing down on Silakka's thigh, looking to free his foot. Silakka is holding on for now.
Silakka is pressing down on Nweave's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Silakka escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nweave gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Silakka will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Nweave trying to control the position from guard on top but Silakka is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Silakka has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Nweave doesn't defend quickly enough and Silakka has managed to lock this one up! Can Nweave escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Silakka on a fantastic submission victory.
