PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Click Click Boom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sung Kim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Click Click Boom is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Click Click Boom!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sung Kim!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Donatello Bradman and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kim steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Boom.
Boom will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Boom on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Kim avoids the body shot from Boom.
Kim tries to close the distance and clinch but Boom swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Boom gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Kim trying to control but Boom is working from the bottom.
Kim throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Boom works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Kim is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Kim drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kim jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kim is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kim looking to pass the guard.
Kim trying to control the position from guard on top but Boom is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Boom seems keen to control Kim's posture.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Boom keeping moving, preventing Kim from controlling successfully.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Sung Kim wasn't active enough on the ground.

Boom shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Boom stalling away here and it's allowed Kim to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Boom postures up.
Kim tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Boom trying to control but Kim is working from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Boom is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Boom looking to sit in guard and control but Kim gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Kim loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Kim thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Kim trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Kim is looking to work some ground and pound but Boom has wrist control.
Kim in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Boom working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Kim.
Kim trying to control the position from guard on top but Boom is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kim looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Kim pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Boom is keeping the position for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sung Kim dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Kim drives through with a takedown into guard.
Kim trying to control but Boom is working from the bottom.
Boom on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Boom tries to get out of the position.
Boom preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Kim controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Sung Kim wasn't active enough on the ground.
Kim shoots in looking for a takedown. Boom tries to sprawl out of it but Kim keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Boom manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Boom throws a jab but it's blocked by Kim.
Kim doesn't manage to clinch there - Boom circles away.
Kim dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Boom. That did some damage!

and Kim counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kim trying to control but Boom is working from the bottom.
Kim slips nicely into half guard.
Kim trying to control from half guard but Boom is working away.
Kim might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Boom kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Kim is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Boom is just riding it out for now. Kim eventually gives up the hold.

Kim content to control rather than advance.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Sung Kim wasn't active enough on the ground.

Kim scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Kim is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Boom has escaped the position, nice work there.
Kim in side control, throwing shots but Boom defends.
Boom tries to improve position but can't.
Boom wants to control but Kim postures up.
Boom is not content to let Kim control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sung Kim showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Boom looks to land a right hand but Kim moved out of range.
Boom swats away the attempt to clinch by Kim.

Boom gets tackled into the cage by Kim. Kim maintains the clinch.

Kim escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Boom dodges the punch combination from Kim.
Boom with a poor takedown

and Kim counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Boom's guard now.
Kim pushes down on Boom's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Kim controlling the action here.
Kim trying to mount his opponent but Boom defends it.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Kim seems to be looking for submissions.
Kim wants to lay and pray for a moment but Boom keeps working.
Kim is pressing down on Boom's thigh, looking to free his foot. Boom is holding on for now.
Kim thows a huge punch but Boom dodges it nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kim works his foot free and advances to mount.
Kim misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Kim wants to control the pace but Boom is squirming around nicely.

Kim jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Boom manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Kim is looking to take a break and control but Boom is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Kim working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Kim tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kim has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Kim trying to control the position but Boom is working away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Boom seems a little lost for a moment, as Kim dominates the positioning.

And that's the end of the fight!
Sung Kim comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kim has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3 rounds of action, we go to the scorecards for a decision.
