These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tavares throws a right hand that Lasha ducks under and follows up with a left that Lasha also avoids with ease.
Tavares misses with a hook. Lasha ducked under it nicely.
Lasha rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Tavares moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

and Lasha counters with a series of strikes. Tavares will be more careful next time no doubt.
Brian Tavares seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lasha throws a right and a left that Tavares avoids nicely.

Lasha feints and then cracks Tavares's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Tavares down.

Lasha dances in with a quick combination. Tavares is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Lasha snaps Tavares's head back. Tavares stumbles backwards against the cage. Lasha steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Tavares's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Tavares just didn't come prepared.
