PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ty Angle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hugo Johansson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johansson is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Tom Waits - Going out west.. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Angle fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
A jab from Johansson misses.
Johansson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

and Angle counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Angle.
Johansson is trying to keep Angle in close.
Angle wants to pass the guard but Johansson is keeping the position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Angle accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Angle chips away with some ground and pound.

Angle is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Johansson lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Angle!

Johansson is looking to advance position but Angle won't allow it.
Angle is trying to control but can't.
Johansson thows a huge punch but Angle dodges it nicely.
Johansson is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Angle reverses the position - he's now on top in Johansson's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Johansson can do anything to dispel that myth.

Angle drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Angle jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Johansson is looking to stand up but Angle isn't so interested in that idea.

Angle drops back, looking for a kneebar! Johansson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Johansson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Johansson!
Angle is looking for a sweep.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Johansson misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Angle tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Johansson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Johansson stands and steps away. Angle gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Angle is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Johansson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Angle was covering up waiting for the punch and Johansson finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Hugo Johansson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Angle shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Johansson but Johansson pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Johansson is working Angle over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Johansson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Angle has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Johansson has managed to get both his arms back between Angle's legs - danger averted.

Angle is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Johansson is aware though and is defending well.
