Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jimbo Pepper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Wright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wright has chosen Real Muthaphukkin G'z as his entrance music. Jimbo Pepper has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wright shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Pepper is staying active underneath Wright, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Wright might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Pepper kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Eric Wright wasn't active enough on the ground.

Wright clinches up with Pepper and pushes him back against the cage.
Pepper tries to pull guard but Wright holds him up against the cage and eventually Pepper drops back down to his feet.

Wright breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Wright is refusing to be controlled, as Pepper sits in half guard.
Wright is looking to control Pepper's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Wright avoid being mounted?

Pepper drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Wright manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Pepper has Wright in his guard.

Wright is fighting to break Pepper's control of his arms but Pepper is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Pepper cracks Wright with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Pepper goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Wright is on top in guard.

Wright decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Pepper, up you get!

Pepper shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Pepper throws a strike but Wright rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Pepper is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Pepper is trying to control the action in half guard but Wright is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Pepper is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Wright is just riding it out for now. Pepper eventually gives up the hold.

Pepper wants to finish this one by submission but Wright is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Pepper.
Wright is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Wright can do anything to dispel that myth.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Wright wants to hold on but Pepper pushes him away.
Pepper wants to control the pace but Wright is squirming around nicely.
Pepper avoids the attempt from Wright to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee warns Wright that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Pepper is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Wright is surviving well by controlling Pepper's body position as best he can.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jimbo Pepper will probably get the nod.

A punch combination from Wright misses.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Wright enables Pepper to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Wright manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Wright not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Pepper stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wright swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Pepper loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Pepper drops back, looking for a kneebar! Wright looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Wright looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Wright!

Wright thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Pepper is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Pepper is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Wright off and has taken his back!

Pepper is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Wright is defending well though. Pepper let's go of the attempt for now.

Pepper is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Wright with him. Wright is trying to defend but Pepper has an arm under the chin now! Wright grimaces and is forced to tap out!
