Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Raul Sanchez!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Summer Carpenter and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanchez lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Pelican showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Sanchez.

Raul Sanchez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pelican keeps the fight on the outside.
Sanchez wants to clinch.
Sanchez tries to close the distance and clinch but Pelican swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Sanchez counters with a big head kick but Pelican shrugs it off.

Sanchez tries to bum rush Pelican with a series of wild strikes but Pelican uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

and Pelican counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Pelican throws a hook to the side of Sanchez's head but Sanchez sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

and Pelican counters with a stiff right hand.
Pelican throws a front kick aimed at Sanchez's knee but Sanchez avoids it well.

Pelican closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Pelican seems to be working for a kimura but Sanchez defends the submission attempt.
Pelican has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Pelican is keen to just control but Sanchez is a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pelican seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Pelican connects with a nice short shot to Sanchez's temple.

Sanchez is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Sanchez tries to land knees in the clinch but Pelican avoids the damage to the body.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Sanchez uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Pelican.

and Pelican counters with a nice double leg into side control. Sanchez won't be happy with that.

The strikes coming from Pelican are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Pelican is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Sanchez is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Sanchez parries the strikes from Pelican easily there. Pelican is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Sanchez to escape.
Sanchez is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Pelican has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Pelican misses with the ground and pound.
Sanchez is looking for a sweep.
Sanchez is working to avoid the ground and pound but Pelican connects with a decent elbow.
Pelican lands a few punches from side control.
Pelican landing strikes.
Sanchez is breathing heavily.

Pelican is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Sanchez has escaped the position, nice work there.
