PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sho Fukamachi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and eki vieri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fukamachi kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Genki Sudo world order mindshift. eki vieri has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Sho Fukamachi's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sho Fukamachi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, eki vieri!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Tarja Halkonen and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
vieri will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
vieri throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
vieri misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Fukamachi misses with a takedown attempt - vieri sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

vieri throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Fukamachi.
Fukamachi has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Fukamachi there as he acknowledges the shot.
Fukamachi fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but vieri avoids it really well and circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sho Fukamachi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
vieri lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fukamachi shoots in but vieri avoids the takedown attempt easily.

vieri swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Fukamachi.
Fukamachi fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but vieri avoids it really well and circles away.
Fukamachi takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Fukamachi shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in vieri's guard.
Fukamachi won't allow vieri to get back to his feet.

Fukamachi drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but vieri manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Fukamachi has vieri in his guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Fukamachi is on top in guard.

Fukamachi drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Fukamachi jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Fukamachi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. vieri swivels though and keeps the full guard.
vieri wants to stand up but Fukamachi is controlling him.

Fukamachi bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in vieri's guard.

vieri looks gassed!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fukamachi has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. vieri is working away from the top position though.
Fukamachi misses with some strikes from the bottom.
vieri tries to stand but can't do so whilst Fukamachi controls his leg.
Fukamachi wants to control but vieri is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Fukamachi gets back to full guard.
vieri wants to stand and escape but instead Fukamachi has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Sho Fukamachi will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


vieri tries a head kick but it misses.
vieri goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Fukamachi doesn't manage to clinch there - vieri circles away.

Fukamachi throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. vieri was covering up waiting for the punch and Fukamachi finishes the takedown easily into guard.

vieri pushes Fukamachi off and gets back to his feet.

Fukamachi is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, vieri has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Fukamachi lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Fukamachi is going oldschool here, as he tries to force vieri to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so vieri shrugs it off.

vieri is trying to get back to his feet but can't.

vieri really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fukamachi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Sho Fukamachi overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Fukamachi has hold of vieri's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and vieri manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fukamachi fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

vieri takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Fukamachi cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The referee warns vieri that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Fukamachi is in the full mount, landing strikes.

Fukamachi is landing with some decent strikes but vieri is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Fukamachi cracks vieri with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. vieri turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Fukamachi off and cradles vieri's limp body as Fukamachi celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Sho Fukamachi!
