PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nick Thompson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Snow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thompson comes into the arena with Kreator - Extreme Aggressions blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson shoots for a takedown but Snow saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Snow stuffs the takedown attempt from Thompson. Thompson gets slowly back to his feet.
Thompson shoots in looking for a takedown. Snow tries to sprawl out of it but Thompson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Snow manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Thompson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Snow tries to roll over but Thompson keeps him under control.
Thompson is pressing down on Snow's thigh, looking to free his foot. Snow is holding on for now.

Snow wants to control but Thompson is having none of it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Thompson has control of Snow's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Snow regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Snow can't escape the position.
Thompson throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Snow really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Thompson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Thompson looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Thompson is breathing heavily.

Thompson goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Snow is on top in guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Snow won't allow Thompson to sweep him here.
Thompson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Snow stands and throws Thompson's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Snow controls the position from side control.

Thompson tries to bench press Snow off him but Snow keeps the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Thompson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Snow is working away from the top position though.

Snow is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Thompson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Snow.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Thompson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Thompson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Snow is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Thompson is looking to pass Snow's guard but actually Snow recovers to full guard.

Thompson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Snow as he jumps to the side.

Snow has managed to clinch.

Snow has closed the distance and engaged Thompson in a clinch.

Snow wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Thompson has Snow pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Snow manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Thompson looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Snow has picked Thompson up and slammed him! Thompson can't keep hold of the triangle and Snow manages to pass to side control!
Snow tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Thompson has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Snow. Oh but Thompson has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Snow goes limp - he's gone! Thompson jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
