PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Very Harry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darken Rahl (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rahl has chosen Angel Son as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Darken Rahl will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Darken Rahl!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shigeki Fujiwara.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rahl shoots in but no luck this time.
Rahl throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Harry doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Rahl counters with a shoot takedown. Harry fights it but they end up in guard.
Rahl throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Harry works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Harry is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Rahl is aware though and is defending well.
Rahl loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Harry bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rahl's guard.
Rahl wants to stand but Harry is controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rahl throws and elbow that misses. Harry uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Rahl's guard. Nice move by Harry!
Harry sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Rahl's guard.

Rahl wants to improve his position but Harry is controlling well.
Harry working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Harry is working for a submission of some sort.

Harry throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Harry looking for a submission but Rahl manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.
Harry is breathing heavily.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Harry trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Harry wants to control from the top but Rahl keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Harry prevents Rahl from getting back to his feet.
Rahl not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Rahl pushes Harry off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Rahl feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Rahl stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Harry swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Harry wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Rahl keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Harry's head.
Harry wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Rahl is now in half guard.
Rahl uses his free foot to push down on Harry's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Harry.

Harry is looking to get to half guard.

Darken Rahl dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Rahl scores with a one two! Harry had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

and Harry decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Rahl's guard.
Harry stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rahl swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Harry drops back looking for a leg! Rahl is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Rahl manages to kick Harry off! Harry jumps back into Rahl's guard.
Rahl wants to stand but Harry is controlling the position.

Harry wants to control from the top but Rahl keeps moving.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Harry tries to free his leg and advance position but Rahl is retaining full guard.
Rahl wants to get back to his feet but Harry is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Harry stops Rahl from getting back to his feet.
Rahl moves into full guard.
Harry stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rahl swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Rahl is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Harry is controlling him.
Rahl lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Harry!

Rahl lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Harry tries to reverse the position but Rahl maintains control.
Harry wants to hold on but Rahl pushes him away.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Rahl postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Harry looks a forlorn figure.
Rahl pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Darken Rahl showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Rahl misses with a head kick.
Rahl just misses with a punch to the body.
Rahl tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Harry blocks a head kick by Rahl.
Harry tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rahl sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Harry somewhat.
Darken Rahl seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Harry takes a kick to the side of the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rahl's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Rahl duly obliges.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Rahl feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Harry's calf.

Harry drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Rahl is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Harry drops back, looking for a kneebar! Rahl looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Rahl looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Rahl!

Harry takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Rahl has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Harry sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Harry looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Harry doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Rahl counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Very Harry. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rahl would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Harry is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Rahl wants to control from the top but Harry keeps moving.

Harry shoots in looking for a takedown. Rahl tries to sprawl out of it but Harry keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rahl manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Harry avoids the head kick by Rahl.

Harry shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Harry was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Rahl is trying desperately to improve position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Rahl is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

I would just about give that final round to Darken Rahl.
Well Rahl has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
