PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rajin Hussain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Chubbs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Rajin Hussain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jake Chubbs!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Ackerman and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chubbs shoots for a takedown but Hussain saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Chubbs looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Chubbs drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hussain is on top in guard.
Hussain stops Chubbs from standing up.
Hussain throwing strikes from guard but Chubbs blocks nicely.
Hussain wants to get up but he can't break Chubbs's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Hussain wants to pass the guard but Chubbs is keeping the position.
Hussain might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Hussain is working hard here to advance position.
Hussain wants to control from the top but Chubbs keeps moving.

Hussain is working Chubbs over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

We're going to have a standup here because Rajin Hussain wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Chubbs misses with a takedown attempt - Hussain sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

It looks like Jake Chubbs has been cut.

Chubbs gets caught flat footed, as Hussain shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Chubbs wants to stand and escape but Hussain is having none of it.
Chubbs keeping moving, preventing Hussain from controlling successfully.
Hussain passes Chubbs's left leg - he's now in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hussain throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Chubbs throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

Hussain keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Hussain has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


A looping hook to the body misses from Hussain. Chubbs does a little dance to reset his feet.
Chubbs shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Hussain counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Hussain decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Hussain throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Hussain has his hands on Chubbs's head, controlling the position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Chubbs is looking to work some ground and pound but Hussain has wrist control.
Hussain throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Chubbs preventing the sweep.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Chubbs working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Chubbs working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Hussain's head.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Chubbs won't allow Hussain to sweep him here.
Hussain is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Chubbs scoring with some ground and pound.
Chubbs postures up in Hussain's guard and throws a big left but Hussain blocks it.
Hussain not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Chubbs got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hussain has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Chubbs has managed to get both his arms back between Hussain's legs - danger averted.
Chubbs in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Hussain looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Hussain has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Chubbs's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Hussain looking to hit a scissor sweep but Chubbs is one step ahead there.

Chubbs scoring with some ground and pound.
Hussain is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Hussain trying to control the action but Chubbs is working from the bottom.
Hussain is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Chubbs is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Chubbs avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Hussain.
Hussain is trying to control. Chubbs wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Hussain lands a nice short elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Rajin Hussain will probably get the nod.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!



Chubbs tries to sprawl but Hussain drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Hussain wants to control but Chubbs is keeping him busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hussain wants to stand up but Chubbs is controlling the position.

Hussain tries to clinch up but Chubbs circles away and keeps his distance.
Hussain shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Chubbs but Chubbs pushes him off and we're back to square one.

and Hussain counters by moving into the clinch.
Chubbs gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Hussain.
Chubbs is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Hussain gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Hussain's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Hussain misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Chubbs tries to sprawl but Hussain drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Chubbs is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hussain's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hussain's back!

Chubbs missing with punches from the back.
Chubbs has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Hussain.
Hussain trying to control but not successfully.
Hussain rolls, trying to escape but Chubbs keeps control of the position.
Hussain covers up after that shot from Chubbs.
Chubbs scores with strikes from the back.
Chubbs is trying to stick to Hussain's back but Hussain is turning into Chubbs. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Chubbs's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Hussain.
Jake Chubbs has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Chubbs controlling the position.
Rajin Hussain overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Hussain tries to free his leg and advance position but Chubbs is retaining full guard.
Chubbs looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Chubbs keeping full guard, as Hussain tries to pass.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Chubbs throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Hussain escapes and throws Chubbs's legs to the side, diving into side control!

And that's the end of the fight!
Rajin Hussain showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Hussain has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
