Maier has chosen Apaga mas não bate as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
CPW attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Maier looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Maier shoots in and drives through. CPW sprawls well.
CPW misses with a low kick.
CPW fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Maier is out of range.
CPW connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
CPW lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Maier fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Clinical CPW has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sepp Maier.

Maier shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
CPW wants to get back to his feet but Maier is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
CPW working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Maier.

Maier thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Maier stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. CPW swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Maier trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Maier drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and CPW dives on top into guard.

Maier pushes a forearm under CPW's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, CPW is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
