PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Green (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eino Kiiveri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kiiveri has chosen Teflon Brothers - Matkal Kotiin as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, James Green!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Eino Kiiveri!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Sam Margolis and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kiiveri misses the jab.
Green lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Kiiveri swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Kiiveri throws a hook to the side of Green's head but Green sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Green misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Kiiveri.

A looping hook to the body misses from Green. Kiiveri does a little dance to reset his feet.

Kiiveri tries to buck Green off but Green is having none of it.

Green is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kiiveri knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Green will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Green is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Kiiveri has managed to escape the submission attempt.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kiiveri can do anything to dispel that myth.

It looks like James Green has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Green tries to close the distance and clinch but Kiiveri swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Kiiveri turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

The crowd cheers as Kiiveri lands an impressive looking overhand right. Green doesn't seem phased though.

Green is looking to wear down Kiiveri with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Green looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Kiiveri counters with a left to the body.
Kiiveri swings for the body but Green moves out of range.

The fighters circling - Green throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Kiiveri throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Green on the side of the head.
Kiiveri tries to score with a low kick but Green moves his leg out of the way.

Kiiveri creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Green's defenses.
Kiiveri lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Green takes an elbow to the temple.

Kiiveri makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Green goes for a takedown attempt but Kiiveri pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Kiiveri is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.


James Green's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

Kiiveri sends Green crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Kiiveri is motioning to the referee to let Green up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Green decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kiiveri is doing well to control the position and prevent Green from advancing to side control.

Kiiveri bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Green's guard.

Green escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kiiveri gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Kiiveri must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Green is working an open guard so Kiiveri takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Eino Kiiveri showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Green tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kiiveri sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Green somewhat.
Eino Kiiveri seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Green dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

and Kiiveri counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Kiiveri connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Green's hands.
Kiiveri moves in looking to clinch but Green pushes him off.
Kiiveri connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Green looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Jeez, James Green's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at James Green's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
