Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Baldur Eirikur (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mir comes to the cage accompanied by Spoilin For A Fight . Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Frank Mir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Baldur Eirikur!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Bruno Hogan and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mir dodges the punch combination from Eirikur.
Eirikur throws a jab but it's blocked by Mir.
Eirikur lands a body shot.
Mir bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Mir throws a combination. Eirikur tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Mir ducks under a wild hook from Eirikur.
Eirikur thumps Mir with a low kick.
Eirikur swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Mir counters with a nice body shot.
Sloppy strikes from Eirikur. Those never looked like landing.

Eirikur gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Mir to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Eirikur looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Mir puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Eirikur is looking to improve his position.

Mir is looking for a kimura here.

Mir content to control rather than advance.
Eirikur is trying to control but can't.
Mir seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Eirikur does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Eirikur can do anything to dispel that myth.
Eirikur regains full guard. Nicely done.
Eirikur working a defensive guard but Mir manages to pass into side control anyway.
Eirikur keeps Mir under control for a moment.
Eirikur really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mir. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Mir tries for a kimura but Eirikur is defending well.
Mir wants to lay and pray for a moment but Eirikur keeps working.

Mir wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Eirikur, who protects the arm well.
Mir is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Eirikur tries to buck Mir off but Mir is having none of it.
Eirikur can't do much from the bottom here.
Eirikur is trying to get back to half guard.
Eirikur is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Mir trying to control the position but Eirikur is working away.
Eirikur is looking to reverse the position.
Eirikur is trying to control Mir's posture but Mir avoids it.
Eirikur tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Mir working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Mir postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Eirikur is trying to control Mir's posture but Mir avoids it.
Mir has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Eirikur!
Eirikur wants to control but Mir is having none of it.
Mir controlling from the full mount.

Eirikur is in a horrible position here. Mir smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Eirikur keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Mir dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


A punch combination from Eirikur misses.
Baldur Eirikur is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Eirikur scores with a nice body kick.
Eirikur pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Eirikur misses with an uppercut.
Eirikur lands a jab to Mir's midsection.
Mir avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Mir drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Eirikur keeping moving, preventing Mir from controlling successfully.
Eirikur has his hands on Mir's head, controlling the position.
Eirikur looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Mir throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Eirikur works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mir trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Mir working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Eirikur wants to sweep but no luck.
Mir throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Mir seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Eirikur has Mir pulled in close to control his posture.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Frank Mir.

Mir shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Eirikur trying to get back to full guard but Mir takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Eirikur keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Mir avoids the attempt from Eirikur to control.
Eirikur reaches up to try and control the position but Mir seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Eirikur rolls and tries to escape and now Mir has his back!
What can Eirikur do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Eirikur wants to escape the position.

Mir is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Mir controlling well, preventing Eirikur from escaping the position.
Eirikur wants to control his opponent's hands but Mir gets his hands free.
Mir doesn't have the hooks in and Eirikur manages to turn into his guard.

Mir working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Eirikur doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Eirikur manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Eirikur must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Eirikur stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mir swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Mir working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Eirikur doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Mir is tightening it up a little... Eirikur has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Eirikur reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Eirikur taps out! nice BJJ there by Mir!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Frank Mir!
