The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice defenses there by Carlisi Junior.

Vanz closes the distance and pushes Carlisi Junior back into the cage.
Carlisi Junior is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Vanz gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Carlisi Junior turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Carlisi Junior manages to end up in side control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Carlisi Junior shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Vanz sprawls well. Vanz wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Carlisi Junior gets slowly back to his feet.

Carlisi Junior is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
