Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bruce Parker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Omi Sakurai!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shirou Masuda and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sakurai connects with a leg kick. Parker looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Sakurai throws a series of strikes that have Parker backpedaling.
Sakurai connects with a single shot there.
Sakurai moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Sakurai cracks Parker with a right hand to the side of the head.
No luck for Parker with that takedown attempt.
Parker fails with the takedown.
Parker with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Sakurai to score with a decent uppercut.
Sakurai connects with the punch.
Omi Sakurai seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Parker will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bruce Parker. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Parker shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sakurai pinned against the cage. Sakurai gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Parker shoots for a takedown but Sakurai saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Parker is breathing heavily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

It looks like Bruce Parker has been cut.

Sakurai drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sakurai slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Omi Sakurai has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Sakurai swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Parker.

Sakurai drives through with a takedown into guard.

Parker is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
I looks like Sakurai might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Sakurai has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Sakurai controlling the position easily from mount.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Omi Sakurai wasn't active enough on the ground.
Parker fails with the takedown
and Sakurai cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Sakurai has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Sakurai lands a two punch combo.
Sakurai connects with a leg kick. Parker looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Parker takes a kick to the side of the head.

Sakurai closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Sakurai has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Parker regains guard immediately.
Sakurai seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Parker escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sakurai gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Parker can't keep his opponent in guard - Sakurai advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Sakurai's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Sakurai works his foot free and advances to mount.
Sakurai looking to control and managing it successfully.

BOOM! Sakurai connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Sakurai content just to control the position here.
Sakurai is landing with some decent strikes but Parker is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Sakurai takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Parker in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

Sakurai swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
