Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between David Cross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and New York Strangler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cross comes to the cage accompanied by The American Dream Song. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Strangler misses with a low kick.
Strangler looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cross is fending him off so far but Strangler persists. Nope, Cross circles away and we're back to standing.
Strangler tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Cross swivels and escapes.
Cross thuds a left hand into Strangler's body.
Strangler looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
David Cross has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of New York Strangler.
Good standup being displayed there by Cross as he connects with a hook.

It looks like New York Strangler has been cut.
Strangler walks into a stiff left hand from Cross.
Cross steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Strangler.
Some wild striking there from Strangler.
Cross leaves Strangler with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Strangler.
Strangler throws out a loose jab but Cross uses good head movement to avoid it.
Strangler throws a head kick but Cross moves out of range.
Strangler keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Cross.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cross displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Strangler throws out the jab.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Strangler is defended easily by Cross.
Strangler looks gassed!
Strangler closes the distance and clinches up with Cross, looking for a takedown. Strangler pushes Cross against the cage but Cross circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Cross misses with a wild combination.
Cross lunges at Strangler with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Strangler's hand.
David Cross is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Cross throws an overhand right that lands on Strangler's shoulder, as Strangler tries to avoid the shot.
Strangler falls off balance throwing a combination
and Cross counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Strangler takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Cross dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Strangler. That did some damage!
Strangler walks into a stiff left hand from Cross.
Cross moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Strangler takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Strangler is trying desperately to land a takedown but Cross is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Strangler.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cross cracks Strangler with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Strangler takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Strangler moves forwards but Cross connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Strangler is rocked!
Cross connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Strangler! He's out on his feet! Cross rushes in and drops Strangler with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). David Cross!
