The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Anni Minnemäki and Matti Vanhoillinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from StPierre.
StPierre fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Nowak sprawls well initially but StPierre persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Nowak tries to roll over but StPierre keeps him under control.
StPierre is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Nowak defends it well.
StPierre looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
StPierre is trying to work for a kimura but Nowak is defending well.
StPierre is thwarting Nowak's attempts to control the position.
StPierre is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Nowak is just riding it out for now. StPierre eventually gives up the hold.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nowak tries to get to full guard but StPierre has control of the leg.

StPierre is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Nowak has managed to escape the submission attempt.
StPierre has control of Nowak's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Nowak regains control of the situation pretty easily.
StPierre is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Nowak is forced to tap! Great finish!
