PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ricky Rasta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Samuel Sinn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rasta kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is one love. Samuel Sinn will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ricky Rasta!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Samuel Sinn!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Winston Howard and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sinn feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Rasta looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Sinn wants to stand but Rasta has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Sinn gets to his feet. Rasta looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Ricky Rasta seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Sinn decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Rasta has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Sinn is working away from the top position though.

Rasta keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sinn stalling.

Sinn escapes and gets back to his feet.

Sinn moves into the clinch successfully.

Sinn has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Rasta clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

What can Rasta do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Rasta is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Sinn is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Rasta. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.

Sinn is persistently looking for the submission but Rasta is defending it well.

Sinn is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Rasta might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Rasta takes a big shot to the side of the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sinn wants to control but Rasta is keeping busy.

Sinn scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.
Sinn has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Rasta's body.

Sinn is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Rasta knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Rasta for a finish.

Rasta is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Sinn gets his way!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Despite being in the dominant position, Samuel Sinn just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Rasta fails with the takedown

and Sinn counters with a takedown into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Sinn lands a head shot.
Sinn changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rasta tries to avoid it but Sinn manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rasta to the ground. Rasta escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Sinn closes the distance and clinches.
Rasta wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Sinn has him pressed against the cage.

Sinn breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Sinn ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Sinn no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Rasta won't allow Sinn to sweep him here.
Sinn bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rasta's guard.

Sinn stays in close to Rasta's body and controls the position.

Sinn decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Rasta, up you get!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Sinn shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Rasta's guard.

Sinn wants to control from the top but Rasta keeps moving.
Rasta has a closed guard, preventing Sinn from standing up.

Rasta uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Sinn shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Sinn was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Sinn has closed the distance and engaged Rasta in a clinch.

Sinn gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Rasta regains guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Rasta is staying active underneath Sinn, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Sinn breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A slapping leg kick lands for Sinn.
Rasta tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Rasta is not content to let Sinn control the position.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Sinn lands a nice short elbow.

Sinn decides to stand up.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Sinn wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rasta keeps working.

Sinn looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Rasta is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Sinn off and has taken his back!
Rasta doesn't have the hooks in and Sinn manages to turn into his guard.
Rasta can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Sinn controls the pace.
Sinn slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Samuel Sinn showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Sinn stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rasta swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Rasta has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Sinn passes Rasta's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Rasta tries to roll over but Sinn keeps him under control.
Sinn not doing much here.
Rasta is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Sinn jumps into side control!
Rasta tries to bench press Sinn off him but Sinn keeps the position.

Sinn thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Sinn has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Rasta is being controlled here.
Rasta is looking to regain half guard here but Sinn keeps moving and retains side control.

Sinn closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Rasta is working to avoid the ground and pound but Sinn connects with a decent elbow.

Sinn stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Sinn perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Sinn is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Rasta has managed to free his arm - good work.
Sinn is trying to control the action in half guard but Rasta is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Sinn seems to be looking for submissions.

Sinn wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rasta keeps working.

Sinn stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Rasta to get to his feet.

Sinn closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Sinn lands in his opponent's guard.
Samuel Sinn has got the better of the ground game so far.
Sinn cracks Rasta with a solid left hand.
Sinn with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Samuel Sinn comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Sinn has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
