Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Teppo Turma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrick Plo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Plo has chosen ISIS - Grinning Mouths as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Teppo Turma!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Patrick Plo!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Plo keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Turma closes this distance looking for a takedown but Plo circles away.
Turma steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Plo.
Turma moves out of range as Plo strikes.

Turma scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Turma tries to pass the half guard into mount. Plo knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Turma will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Turma is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Plo reverses the position - he's now on top in Turma's guard.

Well, if Plo is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Plo wants to free his trapped foot but Turma is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Plo throwing shots but Turma is blocking nicely.
Turma is not content to let Plo control the position.
Plo winds up and cracks Turma with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Turma is trying to stand up here but Plo is controlling him well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Plo working the body and head with strikes.
Turma is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Turma is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Turma tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Turma is trying to stand back up.
Turma is breathing heavily.
Plo lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Plo.
Plo has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The referee is taking a good look at Turma as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Plo!

Turma is trying to stand back up.
Well, with Plo on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Turma is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

Plo has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Turma has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Turma really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Plo.

Plo is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Plo lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Turma shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Plo pinned against the cage. Plo gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Plo lands an overhand right.
Plo connects with a right hand. Turma shakes it off.
Turma moves out of range of the strikes.
Turma throws out a loose jab but Plo uses good head movement to avoid it.
Turma connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Turma swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Plo throws the left hand but Turma avoids the punch easily.
Plo throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Turma throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Plo.
Turma takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Plo throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Turma doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Plo counters with a right hand to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

and Plo counters with a three punch combo that has Turma backing up. Turma nods at Plo to acknowledge the strikes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Teppo Turma. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Turma's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Plo can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Turma is looking to escape.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Plo lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Well Plo has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
