Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Haral Dir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and jack matador (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Haral Dir could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to jack matador's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Haral Dir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, jack matador!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Steve Erwin and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
matador tries to clinch there but Dir circles away.
matador misses with a double jab.
Haral Dir seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
matador fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Dir drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
matador is looking to regain half guard here but Dir keeps moving and retains side control.
matador manages to get back to half guard.
matador is staying active underneath Dir, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
matador is trying to get back to full guard.
matador keeping control of the position.
matador gets full guard.

matador has a closed guard, preventing Dir from standing up.
matador not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

matador escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dir gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. jack matador wasn't active enough on the ground.

and Dir counters with a good low kick that matador was not able to check.

matador shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Dir as he avoids it easily.
Dir swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Dir throws an overhand right that lands on matador's shoulder, as matador tries to avoid the shot.
Dir throws a body kick that misses.
matador moves in looking to clinch but Dir pushes him off.

Dir misses with a shot to the body

and matador counters with a takedown into side control.

matador wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Dir, who protects the arm well.
Dir pushes matador away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, matador gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
matador throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
matador trying to control the action but Dir is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
matador tries to score with some ground and pound. Dir controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

matador creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Dir sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Dir knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for matador on the ground.

matador is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Dir gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Dir's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
matador avoids a kick to the body.

matador shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
matador throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
matador is stalling here. Dir is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! matador seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Dir has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

matador slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Dir tries to stand but matador is controlling from the bottom.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
matador controls Dir momentarily but Dir frees himself.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by jack matador.
A low kick from Dir misses
and matador counters with a stiff right hand.
An inside leg kick lands from Dir.
Dir connects with an inside leg kick.
matador is breathing heavily.
Dir looks to throw a body kick

and matador counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Dir wants to stand up but matador is controlling him.

matador looking to sit in guard and control but Dir gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
matador keeping moving, preventing Dir from controlling successfully.
matador is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Dir wants to get up but he can't break matador's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Dir trying to control the position from guard on top but matador is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Haral Dir wasn't doing enough on the ground.
matador misses with a shot to the body
and Dir counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
matador throws a body punch but Dir moves out of range.
Dir throws a wild body kick that matador sees coming a mile off.
matador bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Dir's head backwards.
Dir throws a leg kick

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

jack matador showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Dir feints and then cracks matador's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow matador down.
Dir wants to land a leg kick but matador is out of range.

jack matador is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Dir avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Dir drops his hands momentarily and matador takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
matador closes the distance but Dir moves to the side

matador looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Dir has picked matador up and slammed him! matador can't keep hold of the triangle and Dir manages to pass to side control!

matador bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dir's guard.

Haral Dir has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
