PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kotaro Hakku (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dirt Magurt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hakku kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is . Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kotaro Hakku!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dirt Magurt!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Sosuke Kotani and Hirohito Nitta.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hakku shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Magurt pinned against the cage. Magurt gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Magurt keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
The fighters circling - Hakku throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Magurt misses with a hook. Hakku ducked under it nicely.

Hakku closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Magurt to the mat! Magurt manages to get full guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Hakku wants to get up but he can't break Magurt's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Hakku drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Magurt dives on top into guard.

Magurt is fighting to break Hakku's control of his arms but Hakku is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Hakku wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Magurt manages to pass to side control.
Still in half guard, Magurt seems content to control.
Hakku is looking for a sweep. Magurt is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Dirt Magurt hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Magurt throws a lazy right hand but Hakku sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Magurt throws a shot from downtown. Hakku moves away and avoids it.

Magurt throws a hook but Hakku blocks it.

Hakku takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Hakku throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Magurt might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Magurt bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Hakku's head backwards.

Magurt lands a nice hook to Hakku's body. Hakku takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Magurt lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Hakku drops back, looking for a kneebar! Magurt looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Magurt looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Magurt!
Dirt Magurt is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
