PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ferb Flin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex McTavish (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Flin comes to the cage accompanied by Im Shipping up to Boston. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ferb Flin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alex McTavish!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McTavish shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Flin defends it nicely.
McTavish dives in and grabs Flin's left leg, looking for a takedown. Flin pushes down on McTavish's head and hops out.
McTavish fails to land the takedown.
Ferb Flin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alex McTavish.

McTavish gets a takedown into half guard.

McTavish is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Flin is looking to escape.

McTavish is looking for a kimura here.

McTavish is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Flin is just riding it out for now. McTavish eventually gives up the hold.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
McTavish passes easily into side control. Nice work.

McTavish thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Flin shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and McTavish counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
McTavish wants to pass the guard but Flin is keeping the position.
Flin keeping moving, preventing McTavish from controlling successfully.
Flin preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
McTavish forces his way into half guard.
Flin is trying to stand up here but McTavish is controlling him well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

McTavish thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Flin's head.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

McTavish working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Flin's thigh. Flin counters though and makes it back to full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
McTavish is looking to work some ground and pound but Flin has wrist control.
Alex McTavish has got the better of the ground game so far.
Flin wants to get back to his feet but McTavish is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Alex McTavish showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Flin shoots in but no luck this time.
Flin will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

McTavish shoots in and gets a takedown into Flin's guard.
McTavish passes Flin's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

McTavish is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Flin doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time McTavish.

McTavish is working for a kimura but Flin is defending it quite comfortably.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Flin wants to get back to his feet.
McTavish tries to stand and escape but Flin is controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McTavish is working for a kimura but Flin is defending it quite comfortably.

McTavish wants to stand but Flin has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McTavish thows a huge punch but Flin dodges it nicely.

McTavish postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Flin to stand up.
Flin misses with a takedown attempt

and McTavish counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Flin!
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ferb Flin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McTavish lands a nice shot to the head.

Flin tries to hold on but McTavish pushes him away.
Flin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McTavish on the ground.

Alex McTavish comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got McTavish winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
