The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meek shoots in for a takedown but Mata shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Meek takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

It looks like Marko Meek has been cut.
Marko Meek seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Meek shoots in looking for a takedown but Mata manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Meek's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Mata lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Meek needs to keep his hands up - Mata had a free shot at his head there.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mata steps in with a hook that catches Meek right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Mata follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Meek looks absolutely devastated.
