Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Johan Hegg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dutch Schulz!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Arvi Lind and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hegg misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Dutch Schulz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Schulz closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Schulz lands in his opponent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Schulz has gone for a leg lock! Hegg slips out almost immediately though and dives into Schulz's guard.
Schulz working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hegg doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hegg manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Hegg slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Schulz looking for a guillotine here but Hegg defends easily.
Schulz looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Schulz has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hegg can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Schulz looks gassed!
Schulz looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Hegg puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Schulz tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Hegg has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Schulz is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hegg wants to control the pace but Schulz is squirming around nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Schulz tries to reverse the position but Hegg maintains control.
Hegg sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Schulz tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Hegg controlling the position easily from mount.
Hegg swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
