PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Monika Szlesz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Szlesz paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Brown looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Brown avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Szlesz tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Brown manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Szlesz moves into the clinch.

Szlesz gets control of Brown's arms and successfully pulls guard. Szlesz will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Brown must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Szlesz is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Brown is controlling him.
Szlesz is trying to keep Brown in close.

Szlesz is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Szlesz drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Brown gets the underhooks and prevents it.
A left hand lands to the body for Szlesz.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Szlesz.
Brown tries to break free but Szlesz pushes him back against the cage.
Szlesz lands a nice elbow.
Szlesz is trying to drag Brown to the mat but Brown just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Szlesz is struggling to control the position.

Szlesz jumps guard but Brown stands there with Szlesz around his waist. Szlesz gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Monika Szlesz. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Szlesz tries to land a knee to the head but Brown blocks with his arms.
Szlesz wants a takedown but no success here.
Brown's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Szlesz lands a body punch in the clinch.
Brown is pressed up against the cage. Szlesz has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Brown down to the mat. Brown avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Szlesz shoots in for a takedown but Brown shows good takedown defense.

and Brown counters with a single leg into guard. Szlesz didn't expect that.
Szlesz is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Szlesz preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Szlesz is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Brown defends well.
Brown prevents Szlesz from getting back to his feet.

Szlesz has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Brown should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Szlesz has tightened it up now! Brown should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
