The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hughes closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hughes lands in his opponent's guard.
Marciewicz is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hughes is controlling him.

Marciewicz has momentary wrist control but Hughes slips an elbow through the middle.

Hughes moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Marciewicz has worked his arm free - good work by Marciewicz!
Hughes creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Marciewicz sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Hughes has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Hughes wants to control the pace but Marciewicz is squirming around nicely.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hughes wants to pass the guard but Marciewicz is defending well.

Hughes is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Marciewicz takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Hughes breaks from Marciewicz's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Marciewicz is rocked!
Hughes cracks Marciewicz with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
