PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Crayon Mars (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mazaa Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Crayon Mars!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mazaa Silva!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Frank Dennis and Wesley Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mars throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Silva's waist but Silva gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mars off to one side.
Mars fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Mars paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Silva fails to land the takedown.
Silva gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Silva closes the distance and clinches up with Mars, looking for a takedown. Silva pushes Mars against the cage but Mars circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Crayon Mars has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mazaa Silva.

Mars lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Silva sprawling to the canvas. Mars follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Silva hang on?

Silva is rocked!

It looks like Mazaa Silva has been cut.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mars works his way into full mount!
Silva is still in real trouble! Can Mars finish him?

Mars working for a submission but Silva is keeping him at bay.
Silva seems to have recovered his senses.
Mars prevents Silva from getting the reversal.

Mars can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Silva is looking to escape.

Silva is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Mars trying to control but Silva is having none of it.
Silva is looking to improve his position but Mars isn't that keen on the idea.
Mars trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Mars takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Silva tries to reverse the position but Mars maintains control.
Silva is squirming around, avoiding Mars's attempts to control the action.
Silva is desperately trying to improve his position but Mars has a good base and remains in mount.

Silva tries to hold on but Mars pushes him away.
Mars in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Silva regains half guard.
Silva is looking to control Mars's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Silva avoid being mounted?

Mars is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Mars prevents Silva from improving his position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Mars perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Silva wants to control but Mars is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The fighters are battling for position here. Silva manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Mars stands up and waves to Silva to follow him.
Silva throws an overhand right that lands on Mars's shoulder, as Mars tries to avoid the shot.
Silva shoots and misses
and Mars counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Mars rushes Silva and presses him up against the cage.

Mars pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Crayon Mars seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Silva shoots for a double leg takedown but Mars sprawls well. He's pushed Silva's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Silva closes the distance and clinches up with Mars, looking for a takedown. Silva pushes Mars against the cage but Mars circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Mazaa Silva's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Mars shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Silva decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mars's guard.

Silva drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Mars manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Silva has Mars in his guard.

Silva is looking for a triangle here but Mars uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Silva tries to bench press Mars off him but Mars keeps the position.

Mars trying to control the action but Silva is working from the bottom.

Mars controls the position.
Mars wants to control but Silva is keeping him busy.
Silva is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Mars's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Mars is looking to take a break and control but Silva is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Crayon Mars just wasn't active enough.
Mars smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Crayon Mars is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Silva shoots and misses
and Mars counters with a one-two to the body.
Mars looks to land a combination but Silva avoids it well.
Silva misses with a takedown
and Mars connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Mars tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Silva shoots and misses
and Mars makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Silva shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mars defends it nicely.
Silva doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Silva drops back looking for a leg! Mars is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mars manages to kick Silva off! Silva jumps back into Mars's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mars looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Silva is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Mars wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Silva manages to pass to side control.
Mars is looking to escape.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Silva is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mars is just riding it out for now. Silva eventually gives up the hold.

Silva is working for a submission of some sort.

Silva has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Mars defend it? Silva steps over the head and cranks it - Mars is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Silva!
