Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mokong Kupal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Denis Filipovic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Denis Filipovic!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Chris Downing and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Filipovic looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kupal is fending him off so far but Filipovic persists. Nope, Kupal circles away and we're back to standing.

Kupal decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Filipovic is staying active underneath Kupal, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Filipovic is trying to stand up here but Kupal is controlling him well.

Filipovic looking for submissions off his back.
Kupal is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Kupal seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Filipovic does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Kupal is looking to control Filipovic's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kupal avoid being mounted?

Filipovic is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Filipovic is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kupal is just riding it out for now. Filipovic eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Filipovic wants to pass the guard but Kupal is defending well.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

and Kupal counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Mokong Kupal has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Denis Filipovic.
Filipovic looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Filipovic shoots for a double leg takedown but Kupal sprawls well. He's pushed Filipovic's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Filipovic moves in looking to clinch but Kupal pushes him off.

Filipovic bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Filipovic moves into full mount! Kupal won't be happy about that!
Kupal tries to hold on but Filipovic postures up.

Filipovic goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Kupal is on top in guard.

Kupal drops back looking for a leg! Filipovic is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Filipovic manages to kick Kupal off! Kupal jumps back into Filipovic's guard.
Kupal won't allow Filipovic to sweep him here.
Filipovic tries to strike from the bottom.
Filipovic thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Filipovic throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Kupal knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Filipovic on the ground.

Filipovic has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kupal can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Kupal prevents Filipovic from getting back to his feet.

Filipovic is looking for a triangle but Kupal pushes his legs off easily.
Filipovic keeping full guard, as Kupal tries to pass.

Filipovic escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kupal gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Filipovic isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Kupal stacks Filipovic on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Kupal!

and Kupal counters with a thumping low kick.

Filipovic tries to roll over but Kupal keeps him under control.

Denis Filipovic showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Kupal decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Filipovic, up you get!

and Kupal counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Filipovic looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kupal is one step ahead there.
Kupal wants to control from the top but Filipovic keeps moving.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kupal won't allow Filipovic to sweep him here.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mokong Kupal.
Well Kupal has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
