PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Nutz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diaz comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Its not my time kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Johnny Nutz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chris Diaz!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Daniel Bishop and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz tries to bum rush Nutz with a series of wild strikes but Nutz uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Diaz throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Diaz misses with a few strikes there.
Diaz lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Nutz circles away quickly and effectively.

Nutz shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Diaz manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Nutz with a flurry of punches that miss.

Nutz drops back looking for a leg! Diaz is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Diaz manages to kick Nutz off! Nutz jumps back into Diaz's guard.

Nutz drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Nutz jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Nutz throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Diaz works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nutz passes Diaz's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Diaz is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Nutz scores with a couple of nice shots.

Nutz is working for a kimura but Diaz is defending it quite comfortably.
Nutz working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Nutz throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Nutz thows a huge punch but Diaz dodges it nicely.

Nutz not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Nutz has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Nutz is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Diaz is defending against the submission attempts here by Nutz.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Diaz is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Nutz wants to lay and pray for a moment but Diaz keeps working.
Nutz is nestled in close to Diaz, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Diaz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nutz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Nutz looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Diaz with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Nutz throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Nutz wants to work for an arm triangle but Diaz is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Diaz keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Diaz is looking for a sweep. Nutz is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Nutz in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Diaz tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Nutz!
