PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Robot Joe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Robot Joe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Peter Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Joe shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jackson pinned against the cage. Jackson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Jackson throws a head kick that misses.
Joe tries to clinch but Jackson is having none of it.
Joe tries to clinch there but Jackson circles away.
Joe looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Joe fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jackson manages to avoid it.
Joe throws a sloppy head kick
and Jackson counters with a left to the body.
Joe fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Robot Joe. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Joe misses with a leg kick
and Jackson counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Joe.
Joe sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Jackson is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
The strikes coming from Joe are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Jackson regains half guard.
Joe with the ground and pound but Jackson uses the opportunity to regain guard.

Joe avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Joe controlling from the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jackson is trying to keep Joe in close.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jackson is looking to stand up but Joe isn't so interested in that idea.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Jackson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Joe misses with a head kick.
Joe fails with the takedown
and Jackson counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Jackson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Joe blocks a jab.
Jackson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Joe is defended easily by Jackson.
Joe lands a head kick. Jackson smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Joe pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Joe lands a nice shot that snaps Jackson's head back.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Joe throws a leg kick

so Jackson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Joe looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jackson is one step ahead there.
Joe has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Joe is pulling down on Jackson's head to control his posture.
Joe trying to control the position.
Jackson trying to control but Joe is working from the bottom.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Jackson wants to pass the guard but Joe is keeping the position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Jackson waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Joe.
Joe takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Joe tries to clinch up.
Joe moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Joe. Jackson shrugs it off though.
Jackson looks gassed!
Joe throws a leg kick which misses Jackson's front leg but catches the back leg as Jackson tries to avoid it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Joe drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Joe is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Joe sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jackson's guard.
Joe working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Joe slows the pace down in half guard.
Jackson is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Joe scores with a couple of nice shots.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Joe looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Robot Joe dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Jackson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Joe defends it nicely.
Joe wants to clinch.
Joe throws a leg kick
and Jackson makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Joe scores with a takedown into Jackson's guard.
Jackson keeping moving, preventing Joe from controlling successfully.
Joe won't allow Jackson to sweep him here.
Joe is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Joe passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Jackson struggling a bit here.
Jackson is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Joe working the body and head with strikes.
Jackson is not content to let Joe control the position.
Joe takes a little break here. Jackson wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Joe lands some shots froms side control.
Joe wants to control but Jackson is keeping him busy.

Joe working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Joe controlling the position from side mount.

Joe is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Jackson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Joe lands a few punches from side control.
Joe lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Jackson down.

Joe is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Jackson is trying to escape and Joe transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Jackson is forced to tap! Nice work there by Joe! Very nice indeed!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:04 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Robot Joe!
