PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Henry Huynh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maurizio Marchetti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Marchetti's choice of entrance music: Hellbound. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Henry Huynh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Maurizio Marchetti!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Donatello Bradman and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Huynh keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Huynh defending well as Marchetti loads up on a big left hand.
That kick from Huynh tenderised Marchetti's leg. Marchetti is trying to keep his angry face on.
Huynh scores with a decent looking hook.
Marchetti thows a body shot but no joy.
Marchetti punishes Huynh's body with a nice straight punch.
Marchetti tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Huynh was well out of range. Poor timing from Marchetti.
Marchetti takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Huynh throws a series of punches but Marchetti moves out of range.
Marchetti jabbing away but nothing is landing.
A head kick misses from Huynh.
Good leg kick by Huynh there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Marchetti throws a leg kick
and Huynh cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Huynh.

Huynh shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Huynh was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Marchetti is trying to escape the mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Huynh blocks Marchetti's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Marchetti in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Huynh has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Marchetti really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Huynh has control of Marchetti's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Marchetti regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Huynh manages to capitalize on a mistake by Marchetti to take his back!
Marchetti can't escape the position.
Huynh lands a shot to the body.
Huynh controlling well, preventing Marchetti from escaping the position.
Marchetti covering up well and avoiding damage.
Huynh controls the position.
Huynh keeps control of the position as Marchetti tries to break free.
Marchetti turns into Huynh and is now in his guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Huynh lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Marchetti!
Marchetti can't escape the position.
Huynh moves to the back position.
Marchetti is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Marchetti tries to escape but Huynh has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Huynh has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Marchetti's body.

Huynh looking for the RNC.
Huynh just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marchetti looking very determined here, making life difficult for Huynh.
Marchetti really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Huynh. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Marchetti tries to escape but Huynh has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Huynh lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.
Huynh wants to control but Marchetti is keeping busy.
Marchetti is in bad spot here.
Huynh punishes Marchetti with strikes from the back mount.
You can see the frustration on Marchetti's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Huynh is looking for the choke from the back position but Marchetti is controlling his hands well.

Huynh is hanging on to Marchetti's back as he tries to escape.
Huynh trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Marchetti doesn't escape.

Huynh is cranking Marchetti's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Marchetti! He's tightened the choke and Marchetti is tapping out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:02 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Henry Huynh!
