PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rickson Fujitsu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julio Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones has chosen LUMBERJACK as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. On his way into the cage it seems that Rickson Fujitsu has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Rickson Fujitsu seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fujitsu pushes Jones up against the cage in a clinch.
Fujitsu's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Jones tries to pull guard but Fujitsu holds him up against the cage and eventually Jones drops back down to his feet.
The referee calls for Jones to work.
Fujitsu jumps guard but Jones stands there with Fujitsu around his waist. Fujitsu gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Jones breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Fujitsu displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Jones throws out the jab.
Fujitsu lands a nice looking kick to the body. Jones takes a step back to recover.

It looks like Julio Jones has been cut.
Fujitsu shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jones as he avoids it easily.

Fujitsu tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jones swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Fujitsu changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jones tries to avoid it but Fujitsu manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jones to the ground. Jones escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jones decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Jones throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Fujitsu on the side of the head.

Jones moves in looking to clinch but Fujitsu pushes him off.

Jones instigates a clinch.
Fujitsu drops down looking for an ankle pick but Jones pulls his leg out and moves away.
Jones throws a left and a right that both miss

Jones is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Fujitsu tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Fujitsu has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones is trying to buck Fujitsu off.

Jones is looking to get back to his feet here but Fujitsu is keeping cool and he's managed to take Jones's back.
I would not like to be Jones right now.
Fujitsu is landing with strikes from the back.

Fujitsu has his opponent's back but Jones is looking to stand. He manages to get to his feet and shakes off Fujitsu.
Fujitsu will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Jones stands up from Fujitsu's guard - Jones perhaps looking for a knockout.
The fight stays on the outside here - Fujitsu looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Fujitsu shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Fujitsu shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jones pinned against the cage. Jones gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jones's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Jones duly obliges.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Rickson Fujitsu will probably get the nod.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Jones lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Jones wants to get back to his feet.
Jones is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Fujitsu is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Jones's shoulder. That is not cool.

and Jones counters with a nice uppercut.
