The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hodges defending well as Doherty loads up on a big left hand.

Hodges postures up in Doherty's guard and throws a big left but Doherty blocks it.

Doherty bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hodges's guard.
Hodges is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Doherty would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Hodges pulls Doherty in close to prevent any damage.

Hodges shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Doherty's guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Doherty is on top in guard.

Doherty throws a leg kick which misses Hodges's front leg but catches the back leg as Hodges tries to avoid it.

Hodges takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Doherty connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Hodges tumbling to the canvas! Doherty pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Hodges was done - good stoppage!
