PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ronald Kabulla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gipson Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Ronald Kabulla has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Ronald Kabulla seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ronald Kabulla!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gipson Brown!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kabulla moves in looking to clinch but Brown pushes him off.
Kabulla throws a series of punches but Brown moves out of range.
Kabulla looks for a takedown but Brown sprawls well.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Brown.
Kabulla has a takedown stuffed.
Brown dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Kabulla. That did some damage!
Kabulla avoids the body shot from Brown.

Brown has taken the fight to the clinch.
Brown lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Kabulla tries to stall but Brown uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Brown is leaning against Kabulla and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
A knee to the head by Brown.

Brown is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Brown unloads a knee to the mid-section. Kabulla lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kabulla is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Brown breaks from the clinch.
Brown thows a body kick. Kabulla tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Brown lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Kabulla fails with an attempt to clinch.
Kabulla shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Brown as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ronald Kabulla. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kabulla looks to land a combination but Brown avoids it well.
Brown keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Kabulla shoots in but no luck this time.

Brown clinches with his opponent.
Kabulla drops down looking for an ankle pick but Brown pulls his leg out and moves away.
Kabulla throws a head kick but Brown moves out of range.
Kabulla shoots for a takedown but Brown saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Gipson Brown seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kabulla throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Brown's waist but Brown gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kabulla off to one side.
Brown throws a head kick that misses.
Kabulla shoots in looking for a takedown. Brown tries to sprawl out of it but Kabulla keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Brown manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Kabulla tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Brown counters with a solid body kick.
Kabulla throws a head kick that misses
and Brown counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Nice uppercut lands for Brown. That snapped Kabulla's head back.

Brown takes the fight into the clinch.
Brown connects with a knee to the head.
Brown prevents Kabulla from breaking the clinch.
Brown crunches a lovely knee into Kabulla's ribcage.
Brown landing knees to the body.
Kabulla letting Brown take a breather here.

Brown escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Brown scores with a spinning back kick!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Brown lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Brown throws a sloppy head kick and Kabulla moves out of range easily.
Brown lands with a straight right. Kabulla didn't see that one coming.
Brown misses the shot to the body.
Kabulla swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Brown clinches with his opponent.
Brown gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Brown lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Brown tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Brown is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Kabulla fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Brown prevents a takedown attempt there.
Brown controlling the action here for a moment.
Kabulla is looking to break free of the clinch but Brown has double underhooks.

Kabulla pulls guard.
Kabulla is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kabulla is on top in guard.
Kabulla slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Brown avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Kabulla will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Kabulla wants to pass the guard but Brown is keeping the position.
Brown wants to stand up but Kabulla is controlling him.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Kabulla is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gipson Brown dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Kabulla misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Brown moves in looking to clinch but Kabulla pushes him off.
Kabulla fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Brown lands a front kick.
Kabulla shoots in and drives through. Brown sprawls well.

Kabulla shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Brown blocking the ground and pound.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Brown is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Kabulla wants to control the pace but Brown is squirming around nicely.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kabulla sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Kabulla won't let Brown get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Kabulla is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Brown is in real trouble.
Brown has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kabulla lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Brown is keeping busy.
Brown is trying to stand back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kabulla controls the action.
Brown really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kabulla. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Brown covering up well and avoiding damage.
Brown trying to get back to his feet but Kabulla is in full control for now.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Kabulla changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Brown tries to avoid it but Kabulla manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Brown to the ground. Brown escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Ronald Kabulla is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kabulla shoots in for a takedown but Brown shows good takedown defense.
Brown lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Kabulla at a distance.

Brown gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Brown connects with a nasty looking knee right to Kabulla's face.
Kabulla takes an elbow to the temple.

Brown breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Brown tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Kabulla shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ronald Kabulla. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Brown fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kabulla, pushing him back against the cage.
Kabulla tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Kabulla wants to stall.

Kabulla is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Brown can't fight it off and eventually Kabulla manages to take the fight to the floor. Brown looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Brown takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Kabulla tries to free his leg and advance position but Brown is retaining full guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Brown can do anything to dispel that myth.

Kabulla missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Kabulla trying to stand up but can't free himself from Brown's guard.
Kabulla wants to control from the top but Brown keeps moving.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kabulla controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Brown keeping moving, preventing Kabulla from controlling successfully.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Kabulla misses with a body shot.

and Brown counters with a nice body kick.
Brown throws a head kick that misses
and Kabulla counters with a head kick. That will keep Brown thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Brown bucks Kabulla off and manages to get back to his feet!
A combination from Kabulla does no damage.
Gipson Brown is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kabulla lands with a kick to the temple. Brown shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Kabulla shoots in but no luck this time.
Kabulla fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Brown will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Kabulla shoots in but Brown avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Brown is looking to score with low kicks.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Kabulla bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Brown prevents Kabulla from improving position.
Kabulla wants to control but Brown is keeping him busy.

Kabulla swings around for an armbar but Brown sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Kabulla's guard.
Kabulla is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Brown stands up and waves to Kabulla to follow him.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ronald Kabulla showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Kabulla has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
