PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sven Torsk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Boris Bowler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Sven Torsk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Boris Bowler!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Glass and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bowler fails in his attempt to clinch.

Torsk closes the distance and clinches.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Bowler.

Bowler breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bowler throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Bowler instigates a clinch.
Bowler gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Torsk.
Torsk is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Bowler pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Torsk wants a takedown but no success here.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sven Torsk. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Bowler breaks from the clinch.
Torsk stuffs the takedown.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Bowler.

Bowler decides to stand back up.
Boris Bowler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bowler lands an elbow that stopped Torsk in his tracks for a moment.
Bowler with an attempt at a knee that misses.

Bowler breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Horrible takedown by Torsk or perhaps it was just good defense by Bowler which made him look bad.

Bowler wants to clinch but Torsk slips to the side

so Torsk counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Torsk pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bowler is keeping the position for now.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Torsk accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Torsk drops back, looking for a kneebar! Bowler looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Bowler looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Bowler!
Torsk is breathing heavily.

Bowler has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Bowler moves into the clinch.
Torsk keeps control of Bowler as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Bowler breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Torsk keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bowler pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Bowler has managed to clinch.

Torsk jumps into guard, dragging Bowler to the mat.
Bowler slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Bowler stands up and waves to Torsk to follow him.
Torsk swats away the attempt to clinch by Bowler.
Torsk tries for a takedown but Bowler circles away easily
and Bowler counters with a stiff right hand.
Bowler blocks a head kick by Torsk.
Bowler throws a right hand that Torsk ducks under and follows up with a left that Torsk also avoids with ease.
Torsk fails in his attempt to clinch.
Torsk fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Bowler tries for a takedown but Torsk circles away easily

and Torsk decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Bowler's guard.

Torsk has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Bowler is proving hard to escape from.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Torsk has gone for a leg lock! Bowler slips out almost immediately though and dives into Torsk's guard.

Torsk has Bowler pulled in close to control his posture.
Bowler must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Torsk looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Torsk working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bowler doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bowler manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Torsk is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Bowler wants to stand but Torsk has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Boris Bowler will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Bowler scores with a three punch combo!

Torsk feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Bowler bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Torsk's guard.
Torsk is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Bowler stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Torsk swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Bowler really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Torsk. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

and Bowler holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Torsk tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Bowler just stands there and leans against the cage.

Bowler using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Torsk has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Torsk drops down looking for an ankle pick but Bowler pulls his leg out and moves away.

Torsk gets to his feet. Bowler looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Torsk looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bowler is fending him off so far but Torsk persists. Nope, Bowler circles away and we're back to standing.

Bowler is pulling down on Torsk's head to control his posture.
Torsk wants to pass the guard but Bowler is keeping the position.

Torsk shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Bowler as he avoids it easily.

Torsk is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Sven Torsk overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Torsk is trying to work for a kimura but Bowler is defending well.
Bowler wants to get back to his feet.
Torsk passes the guard and advances to mount!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Torsk avoids the attempt from Bowler to control.

Torsk goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Bowler turns into him and now he's in Torsk's guard.
Bowler tries to stand but Torsk is controlling from the bottom.

Sven Torsk showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Torsk has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
