Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sergei Ruchenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Ellison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ellison has chosen im bad as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sergei Ruchenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Antonio Ellison!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ruchenko has closed the distance and engaged Ellison in a clinch.
Ruchenko gets through Ellison's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Ellison has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Ruchenko is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Ruchenko is trying to push Ellison away but Ellison has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
A bit of stalling here from Ruchenko.
Ruchenko scores with a shoulder strike.
Ruchenko lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Ellison jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ruchenko walks away with a smile on his face. Ellison gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Ruchenko tries to clinch but Ellison moves out of range.
Ellison checks a leg kick.

Ellison shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Ruchenko is trying to defend but Ellison finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Ruchenko is looking for a sweep. Ellison is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Ellison is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Ruchenko has managed to free his arm - good work.
Ellison throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Ruchenko wants to get back to his feet.
Ruchenko is looking to get back to is feet but Ellison passes into side control.

Ruchenko is not content to let Ellison control the position.

Ellison tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ellison has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Ellison sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Ruchenko is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Ellison working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Ellison stands up and beckons Ruchenko to his feet.
Ellison avoids the head kick by Ruchenko.

Ellison forces Ruchenko back against the cage and clinches.
A short right from Ruchenko on the inside.
Ruchenko lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Ellison backwards.
Ruchenko is trying to force a seperation but Ellison has the dominant position.
Ellison tries to pull guard but Ruchenko won't allow it.
Sergei Ruchenko has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Antonio Ellison.
Ruchenko's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Ellison lands a right hand.
Ruchenko lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Ellison changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Ruchenko fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Ruchenko tries to clinch up

so Ellison counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Ellison wants to control from the top but Ruchenko keeps moving.
Ruchenko is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Ellison is controlling him.
Ellison tries to free his leg and advance position but Ruchenko is retaining full guard.

Ruchenko keeping moving, preventing Ellison from controlling successfully.
Ruchenko looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Antonio Ellison hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Ruchenko darts in trying to clinch

and Ellison holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Ruchenko really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Ellison avoids a wild elbow strike from Ruchenko.
Ruchenko wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Ellison has clasped his hands together around Ruchenko's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Ruchenko is not content to let Ellison control the position.
Ruchenko is pushing Ellison's head away, looking to escape. Ellison manages to hold on to the position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Antonio Ellison dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!



Ellison closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Ruchenko did well to prevent Ellison getting side control.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Ellison connects with a nice short shot to Ruchenko's temple.
Ellison thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Ruchenko kicks off Ellison and gets to his feet.
Nice takedown defense from Ruchenko. No joy for Ellison on that attempt.
Ellison fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Ruchenko tries to clinch up

and Ellison counters with a shoot takedown. Ruchenko fights it but they end up in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ellison trying to control the position from guard on top but Ruchenko is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Ellison won't allow Ruchenko to sweep him here.

Ellison trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Ruchenko is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Ellison is controlling him.
Ruchenko is controlling Ellison's posture.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Ellison changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ruchenko looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Ellison goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Ruchenko has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Ellison but great work by Ruchenko.

Ellison is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Ruchenko's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Ruchenko is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Ellison is pressing down on Ruchenko's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Ellison scrambles and gets back to his feet.

and Ellison counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ruchenko won't be happy with that.
Antonio Ellison has got the better of the ground game so far.
Ruchenko is looking to reverse the position.
Ruchenko tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.

Ruchenko is trying to defend against the choke here but Ellison has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Ellison Tightens the hold and Ruchenko taps out furiously! Ellison displays superior BJJ to win the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Antonio Ellison!
