The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Patricks lands a nice shot that snaps Ismail's head back.
Patricks uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Ismail.
Patricks misses with a two punch combination.
Patricks misses with a few strikes there.
Patricks throws out a leg kick but Ismail moves out of range and Patricks only half commits.
Patricks throws a body punch but Ismail moves out of range.
Patricks looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Patricks tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Patricks lands an overhand right.
Patricks misses with a takedown attempt - Ismail sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Patricks tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ismail sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Patricks somewhat.
Wallid Ismail has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vaan Patricks.
Patricks throws a body kick that misses.
Patricks throws a jab but it's blocked by Ismail.

Ismail shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Patricks really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ismail. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Patricks is desperately trying to improve his position but Ismail has a good base and remains in mount.

Ismail is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Patricks has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Patricks is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Ismail is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

Ismail tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Ismail is looking to take a break and control but Patricks is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Wallid Ismail overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Patricks throws a strike but Ismail rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Ismail thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Ismail has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
