PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Nico Junio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Schnitz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Bob Schnitz was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Nico Junio!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bob Schnitz!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Tarja Halkonen and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Junio throws out a loose jab but Schnitz uses good head movement to avoid it.
Junio tries to clinch there but Schnitz circles away.
Horrible takedown by Junio or perhaps it was just good defense by Schnitz which made him look bad.

Schnitz feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Schnitz thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Junio escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Schnitz gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Schnitz is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Schnitz drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Schnitz jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Schnitz.
Junio is trying to improve his position.

Schnitz working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Junio knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Schnitz on the ground.

Schnitz tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Schnitz has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Schnitz is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Junio defends it well.

Schnitz is looking for a kimura but Junio is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Schnitz to get the leverage.
Junio throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Junio wants to control but Schnitz is keeping busy.

Schnitz is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Junio throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Schnitz shoots for a double leg takedown but Junio sprawls well. He's pushed Schnitz's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Junio can't keep his opponent in guard - Schnitz advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
The fighters are battling for position here. Junio manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Schnitz wants to control from the top but Junio keeps moving.

Schnitz drops back, looking for a kneebar! Junio looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Junio looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Junio!

Schnitz is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Junio doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Schnitz.

Schnitz is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Junio is just riding it out for now. Schnitz eventually gives up the hold.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Junio ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Schnitz has hold of Junio's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Junio seems comfortable defending it but Schnitz has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Junio is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Junio is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Schnitz couldn't care less - he's delighted!
