Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Naoto Date!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jonathan Brookins!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, James Ackerman and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Date.
Date takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Date shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Brookins's guard.

Brookins is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jonathan Brookins.

and Date counters with a nice double leg into side control. Brookins won't be happy with that.
Brookins tries to buck Date off but Date is having none of it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Date got a little sloppy there for a moment and Brookins has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Date has managed to get both his arms back between Brookins's legs - danger averted.
Brookins is looking to stand up but Date isn't so interested in that idea.

Brookins working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Date doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Date manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Date is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
