The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Alves is trying hard to land a takedown here. Prunea sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Prunea throws a sloppy head kick and Alves moves out of range easily.

Alves closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Prunea can't do much from the bottom here.
Alves working the strikes but Prunea uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
Prunea wants to improve his position but Alves is controlling well.

Alves is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Prunea has managed to free his arm - good work.

Prunea has one foot on Alves's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Prunea shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Alves napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Alves can't do much from the bottom here.

and Prunea decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Alves's guard.

Alves is breathing heavily.
Prunea seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Prunea pulls Alves in close to prevent any damage.
Alves will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Prunea wants to sweep but no luck.
Prunea bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Alves's guard.
Prunea works a leg free and moves into half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Prunea lands a nice short elbow.
Prunea is taking a breather. Alves says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Prunea is pressing down on Alves's thigh, looking to free his foot. Alves is holding on for now.

Alves on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

and Prunea counters with a big slam. Alves looks out but Prunea is landing strikes to his unconscious opponent! Eventually the ref steps in to save Alves from any more punishment. A brutal conclusion to the fight!
